Many of Elixir’s products contain Aloe. All products containing Aloe in the range contain Aloe Ferox (from South Africa), as opposed to Aloe Vera (from the United States of America).
Aloe has so many wonderful benefits to the skin, especially Aloe Ferox which only grows in South Africa. It is grown naturally and still relies on age old methods to collect the sap from the Aloe Ferox plant. No pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers are used in the growing of it.
Aloe Ferox easily penetrates through the surface of the skin, hydrating it whilst forming a cover preventing the escape of moisture. It also increases oxygen supply, as a result of increased blood flow, and stimulates fibroblast activity and collagen proliferation essential for skin tissue regeneration.
It also reduces photo-aging by restoring the activity of epidermal cells reduced by UV exposure, is also known to improve skin elasticlity, reduce liver spots, reduce wrinkles, and has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal amongst its properties. Scientific tests comparing Aloe Ferox and Aloe Vera performed at the Kirstenbosch Botanical research laboratories in Cape Town, South Africa revealed the following:
- The amino acid content of Aloe Ferox is almost double that of Aloe Vera.
- Aloe Ferox contains a higher concentration of minerals than Aloe Vera.
